It was an afternoon of praise and worship in the University of Technology, Jamaica Caribbean Sculpture Park on Thursday October 6, 2016. Members of the Faculty of Education and Liberal Studies Student’s Committee hosted a worship session; Island Praise in the Park. The annual event saw students and staff from various faculties congregate to be a part of the praise and worship experience.

The session got underway at approximately 3:30 p.m. with members from UCCF (Universities and Collage Christian Fellowship) who got the patrons revved up for worship and set the pace for other performers.

Followed by UCCF’s performance, soloists with their melodious voices delivered performances which got persons moving.

Unfortunately, half way through the – hour and a half – event, electricity went, leaving other performers to minister without instrumental accompaniment. This did not deter the audience from worshiping, as during the electricity outage the response from the crowd was overwhelming. Minutes later, electricity returned and musical instruments were powered up. This led to the final set of performers who deejayed, and had the audience screaming and dancing as they encouraged the crowd to accept Jesus as their Lord and Saviour. Though the event didn’t pull a huge crowd, organisers and performers ensured that attendees had an unforgettable worship experience.

The climax of the worship session came when Mellisa Campbell, a student of the university ministered to the gathering through singing then she prayed. The afternoon’s function came to an end promptly at 5 pm.
